Small Wonders Academy is a ministry of St. Paul Hubbard Lake. We believe that all life is given by God and that all children are "fearfully and wonderfully made" in the image of God.

CLASSROOMS
At Small Wonders Academy we follow a Montessori inspired philosophy where the children are placed in mixed age groups, apart from infants who will be separated. Grouping children of different ages together encourages them to develop strong social and collaboration skills. In mixed age classrooms, the younger children learn from the older children, and the older children learn to serve as role models. In all groups of children, there will be varying ability levels. We will take all considerations into account and for group activities we will put children together who may best complement one another. Individual classroom compositions are listed below:

CURRICULUM
At Small Wonders Academy, we focus on child-centered teaching, developmentally appropriate practices, and the belief that 'play is a child's work.' Our goal is to develop each child's confidence, creativity, and life-long learning skills in our program. To support this goal, we have developed our own curriculum using the Highscope curriculum blended with a Montessori-inspired approach.
We encourage collaboration, not competition. We recognize the young child’s need and desire for order. This is achieved by presenting a fully equipped classroom complete with all appropriate materials and teaching aids.
It is our aim to work with parents in providing this service via a play-based and caring environment communicating in an open and transparent manner on a continuous basis. High standards of teaching are achieved with suitably qualified teachers and the employment of individuals with a genuine desire to work with and educate small children.
We recognize each child as an individual with a unique personality and ability. The combination of quality care and loving attention in our center encourages the natural rhythm of learning and development. Our center program will further enrich the children’s lives by providing a multitude of specially designed, developmentally appropriate activities for students within the curriculum.
Favorable teacher-child ratios, small groups and a variety of learning materials give children exciting opportunities for exploration, stimulating their curiosity and motivating them to learn.
